Rapid.Space demonstrates RISC-V support in SlapOS edge cloud at RISC-V Summit Europe 2024

Munich, Germany, June 27, 2024 - Rapid.Space announces the first end-to-end open source edge cloud platform with RISC-V support. Rapid.Space and Nexedi staff demonstrated a live SlapOS edge cloud platform running on a Milk-V Pioneer server powered by SOPHON SG2042 64-core RISC-V server.
Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Rapid.Space, explains: "SlapOS is an open source edge cloud platform which automates all the steps of IaaS, PaaS or SaaS operation: build, allocate, instantiate, configure, orchestrate, monitor, self-repair, recover, account, track,test and bill. SlapOS supports high performance RISC-V servers. Fully Open cloud, which combines open source, open hardware and open process, is now ready from the CPU instruction set till the OSS/BSS"
Jean-Paul Smets concludes, "Rapid.Space will port SlapOS to energy efficient RISC-V SOC such as SpacemiT K1 and Deepcomputing DC-ROMA II laptop. We hope this can accelerate the adoption of RISC-V for edge computing".
